[ drift is no stranger to the things that go bump in the night; hell, he is one of them. a certain degree of paranoia is demanded by professionalism in his line of work, and he notices the kid popping up everywhere he goes -- it's hard not to notice, and it's honestly kind of unsettling, and it's starting to give drift the creeps.
and then drift sees him across the street and it's like all the air is sucked out of the scene for a second, and drift finds himself uncharacteristically paralyzed, his skin crawling. he's taken down plenty of big bad demons, but something about this boy -- whoever he is -- is really unnerving.
drift springs into a run as soon as the boy is out of sight, trying to trace his steps, but it's almost like he wasn't there at all. ]
[Edgar can hear the hurried footsteps rushing towards him and the voice calling out for him. Just like he planned. If this wasn't what he wanted to happen Edgar wouldn't have been as careless as let a human see him like that, predatory and hungry -- eyes full of convincing call: come.
It's really fortunate that he doesn't need to hunt all that often in this city. He and Allan had stocked good amount of rose essence when they had arrived so that they'd be able to settle down in all peace and quiet. And besides, Edgar had never been one to go out to just to chase after the thrill of excitement. But that didn't mean he was completely opposed to having fun when hunting became necessary. Just like here.
When the man runs past the corner that Edgar had just a moment ago he'll be met with a view of empty street as he's nowhere to be seen.
However, behind him comes a soft voice as Edgar steps out of shadow.]
[ drift's eyes narrow and he pivots on his heel to see the boy, finally properly laying eyes on him. he'd been getting a weird feeling; this is definitely something out of the ordinary. ]
You, actually. Is there a reason you've been stalking me?
Huh? [With a suave move Edgar leans his head back, lifting his chin a little. The earlier hungry glimmer has gone off from his eyes and now he only looking at him with a mild curiosity and amusement. ]
Aren't you the one who came running after me? You scared me there for a second.
Nice try, but I can tell when someone's been following me. And you're not human, your aura's off -- so... [ he squints, looking thoughtfully at edgar. ] Vampire?
[ it's always weird, meeting demons who are basically kids, or look like them, anyway. it makes hunting them sort of complicated, because drift has a moral compass these days. ]
Oh, looks can be deceiving. You know how it is. [ he says it kind of cheerfully, just as his own eyes suddenly gleam a bright blue. ] So what is it you want, anyway? You could just come out and say it.
pretend i have human icons for drift

Now it's getting interesting. Edgar moves his hand to his mouth and pulls his upper lip to the side, revealing perfectly normal white teeth.]
No fangs to suck blood with, mister.
